Hi, my name is Chris Maroudas

I'm a web designer & developer

obsessed with the little details

and this is my portfolio

a bit about me

I'm Chris, and I'm passionate about creating responsive websites using the latest technology available. I'm a 27 year old C.S. graduate, currently living in Athens, Greece.

I like to consider myself 60% developer and 40% designer since I'm a bit more into logical side of things, than presentation, but both excite me and make me happy working with them. My goal is to create responsive sites, that combine strong typography, usability and compliance with web standards.

If you're in need of a new website or redesign an old one, don't hesitate to get in touch using the form below, or just email me.

and here's what i like to do

web design with a little bit of
style elegance
and a good editor

Please use the little chart below to evaluate my talents in every aspect, but also keep in mind that it can't cover every single little detail, so feel free to contact me if you have any specific questions.

an overview of my current skills

HTML5
CSS3
jQuery
PHP
MySQL
SEO
Wordpress
Code Igniter
Photoshop

Front end wise, I like using HTML5 with all the bells and whistles it brings to functionality and user experience, alongside the latest CSS3 eye candy available.

On the back end I'm in love with the popular yet strong combination of the latest PHP & MySQL. I used to build every back end functionality with raw PHP, reinventing the wheel with the purpose of learning how everything works behind the curtains.

However after some time, I gave a go at the Code Igniter framework, fell in love with the time savings and simplicity it provided me, and we've been inseparable since.

Lastly, I have a solid foundation of making a place friendly to search engines and accessible to every audience. This year I have also switched to fully responsive, mobile friendly sites.

some persons that fill my mojo

Dan Cederholm There's a possibility that great web design receives neither praise nor criticism. It just works.

Edward Norton A lot of why I do something is just the novelty of the experience.

Albert Einstein Education is what remains after one has forgotten everything he learned in school.

Epicurus Do not spoil what you have by desiring what you have not; remember that what you now have was once among the things you only hoped for.

Steve Nash You should be able to voice your opinion and respect the voice of the other side. You should be willing to educate yourself and know what it is you're dealing with.

Steve Jobs I'm actually as proud of the things we haven't done as the things I have done. Innovation is saying no to 1,000 things.

Jeffrey Zeldman Don’t worry about people stealing your design work. Worry about the day they stop.

Martin Scorsese And as I've gotten older, I've had more of a tendency to look for people who live by kindness, tolerance, compassion, a gentler way of looking at things.

Paul Irish So my general advice is to publish what you learn, share with the community, and collaborate on projects that help move the community forward.

Robert de Niro One of the things about acting is it allows you to live other people's lives without having to pay the price.

Jim Carrey Life opens up opportunities to you, and you either take them or you stay afraid of taking them.

Paul Pierce I think the most important thing I work on is just my mental approach to every day. How to come in each and every day focused, doing what I want to do

finally done!

Well, ready and live! A lot of time went into this, and sometimes dealing with Internet Explorer can be a little bit of a pain, but that part is done. Oh the sweet joy!

I'm hopeful that you'll like the whole aesthetics, and details provided here. Stay tuned for more!

still working

Between my diploma works and sunny beaches, I'm still trying to squeeze the little time left and make progress to this project.

I'm pretty excited though, since a lot of ideas have come to mind and I need to filter them, keeping only the best ones. That's the part I love though.

lifting in progress!

Well it's still a lazy July month, and a big decision was made. It's been long that I've been unhappy with my personal web place but just couldn't find the time to attempt a new one. When I created the first one, I was pretty much a rookie still, trying to find my way into everything, fixing one thing while breaking two and the whole place was a code mess, so memories of that horror sure ain't helping.

A decision is a decision though and I'll try sticking with it, no matter the time it takes, so I'll just stop now, take a deep breath and start!
